Here at the life centre we believe in equipping our residents with a broad range of skills including
- Cooking & meal preparation
- Menu planning
- General housekeeping
- Personal development
- Basic budgeting
Each of our residents are encouraged to take part in the running of the house.
Cooking, cleaning, shopping, and menu planning are normally rotated amongst the residents and overseen by the staff on duty.
We also incorporate work duties into the programme where our residents can learn a number of practical skills such as
A lot of these skills are used and developed on our site. There are plenty of opportunities to maintain the grounds using lawn mowers, strimmers as well as redecorating bungalows and parts of the church building.
Media and IT have become a large part of every day life with the advent of digital cameras, tablets, iPads, kindles, cheap computers, social media such as facebook and twitter. These things are quickly becomming a part of daily life.
As a result we have invested in the services of a tutor who provides a number of workshop style sessions focusing on
- Basic computer literacy
- Word processing,
- Social media, internet and email
- Workshop sessions on building CVs, covering letters and job applications
- Film making, photography and camera work
- Graphic and Web design using industry standard software
- Music theory, audio recording and mastering
A number of our residents have also benefited from individual support provided by the CAP ministry who provide advice on finances and debt management.
