Jonathan - Aged 17

Jonathan says.... At age 17 my life had no direction and I was a very angry person.

I was associating with bad influences and was often getting in trouble with the police.  From an early age I started experimenting with alcohol and illegal substances such as Cannabis and ecstasy.  I used drugs to escape from all of my problems. Since being at the Lighthouse I have had the support and guidance that will help me achieve my goals for the future.  I feel so much more positive now than ever before.                                                                                                                                            

Darren - Aged 35

Darren says.... After having a serious heroin addiction I had lost the will to live. 

I was in hospital and had nowhere to go when Dave and Ian came to visit me and offered me a place at the Centre.  Only 3 months into the programme I am feeling alot stronger and happier and I am getting the right support I need to help me get my life back together.

David - Aged 43

David says.... The support structure that is around me now is excellent and is helping me make the right choices.

I heard about the support the Lighthouse offered when I was in prison and sent off an application form.  As soon as I was released I went for an interview and started going to the centre on a daily basis.  I knew this was the place where I could address all of my issues relating to my alcohol problems. 

Aaron - Aged 30

Aaron says.... By the age of 29 I had developed a serious addiction to cocaine and ecstasy that very nearly took my life.  

After being released from hospital for a second time I decided that I needed help in getting my life back on track.  I've now been here for 9 months and I'm starting to see a positive drug-free future ahead of me.  Through the help and encouragement of the foundation, I've been able to study for the Postgraduate Diploma in marketing and hope to go on to work in the pharmaceutical industry - the kind of drugs that save lives not destroy them!

Tim - Aged 19

Tim says....Before I came to the lighthouse I was very naïve and easily led, I got mixed up with the wrong people.

I was taking drugs and getting in trouble with the police. Through this I sustained a serious head injury which was life threatening and my family were really worried and after talking with them I decided to listen to their advice and go to the lighthouse for guidance.  This was to be the best decision I could have made because my life has totally been turned around and I no longer have any desire to go back to my old ways. I have picked up new skills in every day living, I am excited about the future and I now have a close relationship with my parents again, something I neglected before.

Rod - Aged 27

Rodric says....Since coming to the lighthouse, in 12 months my life was dramatically changed.

I came from living a life dominated by addiction and prisonsentences but have now been set free from this lifestyle. I could not have done it without the support of the Lighthouse and the structure of the programme that was tailored to my needs. I now have a bright future ahead of me and am looking forward to being successful in whatever I do. “All things have become new”.

Neil - Aged 42

Neil says....I made the choice in November 2004 to stop drinking alcohol and to get my life sorted. The only way I was able to do this was to move into The Lighthouse Foundation.

I was addicted and alcohol ruled my life but now I have seen victory in this area and am determined to carry on living in victory every day of my life. The staff at Lighthouse are dedicated, supportive and are there for you 24/7. “It’s great to have my life back and to be happy again”

Rob - Aged 30

Rob says....After being addicted to Heroin and Crack Cocaine for 11 years I never ever thought I could beat the habit, I had the mind set of “once an addict, always an addict”.

I was ravaged by drugs for most of my life, they took me to the lowest of the low. July 2004 I moved into the lighthouse to start the programme and have not looked back since. I have been healed from my drug addiction, I no longer have Hepatitus B, my strength has been renewed and I am now able to plan for my future. “I have beaten my habit and am no longer an addict”.

Steve - Aged 31

Steve says....The support and help I am getting is making a difference in my life and I know this is the best place I could be at this time.

Having heard how successful the apprenticeship for life programme was at The Lighthouse Foundation and recognizing that they could provide the help I was looking for, I got in contact with them. I was offered a place, and moved in May 2004. The Lighthouse is showing me the direction I need.

Craig - Aged 29

Craig says....I have not been at the Lighthouse for long, but the change that has taken place already is just incredible, I feel so much better in myself and my thinking is much more positive.

I am so glad I made the decision to start the programme as my life was in ruins and was going nowhere. I know I will have to work hard to remain free from my previously addictive lifestyle but it is worth it. The support offered here is "simply the best".
